Confessions of a Shopaholic is a very good movie, with a good message about the current financial crisis.
In a faraway place called New York, a simpleton fell in love with buying clothes and also with the magic plastic card called Credit card. She lived a happy life buying clothes and spending alot. She spent alot that she ran into debt, and had an evil debt collector chasing her.
But she had a gift she knew how to write, that unfortunately landed her a job with a financial magazine (she hoped to be a fashion journalist).
The story has a good ending our heroine Becky Bloomwood marries the editor whom she charms and she gets out of debt.

Confessions of a Shopaholic is just another sack of vomit from the Hollywood regurgitating machine! The plot is predictable and the storyline is shallow while the direction is inconsistent and the actors are desperately below par. The 'heroine" Becky Bloomwood lacks layering as a character, she is far more reminiscent of a contemporary socialite the like of Paris Hilton, sans the night-vision pork fest, rather than the image of a strong modern woman who can take on the world without breaking a sweat. She is your typical 21st century bimbo who has no regard for the value of money, nor respect for those who have to work their way to sustenance.
This movie has been made under different guises so many times before, whoever decided to make it again should be publicly executed. All in all, even though I personally have not seen this movie I can confidently and conclusively say it is an awful waste of an hour and a half of anyone's time. One might find more enlightenment by watching some professional wrestling, the Bachelor, Flavor of Love or a Monster truck demolition derby.

This film is amerikan capitalist propaganda. All they show you everytime is how good to live is in Amerika. Everybody is rich and famous and all the girls is pretty and always heppi end. Well, let me tell you the truth! Amerika is bad place to live. People is poor and stupid and everybody is fat becose everybody eat Mekdonald all the time! Gorge Bush is stupid and Obama is a blek - and everybody know that blek people is criminal and Wall strit is colapse.
This film is bad becose there is no explosion!

Much of the propaganda and culture of the U.S. is based upon this notion of materialism and self satisfaction of the needs of the individual over and above the well being of society in general. The reason is simple and that is that many people have little to believe in, anymore. In a world of science and reality where love is just a chemical reaction in your brain and religiousity is another form of mind control, we all look to our possessions and addictions to comfort us. This is what the shopoholic does. She is not religious, she not alcoholic or racist. She has no family history, she does not believe in anything except what is cool and chic and fashionable right now and when her ultra-coolness goes out of fashion: She will be discarded and thrown away like all of those possesions before her.

America is a good place to live and to have rights, but the biggest problem is the generation X'ers because they need to learn to have respect for authority something that Becky Bloomwood learns on the end. Because as one Beatles song says you can't buy my love with money but with affection and showing that you really care.
It is not the clothes that you wear that makes you feel great or how many plastic cards you hold. It is family and the good life that matters the most.

Basilius_2 and Sretko, your views are too simplistic and while you make strong cases that the given movie presents the viewer with an opportunity for some brainless entertainment, it does not make up for the fact that this was a poorly conceived project aimed at a low brow audience just for the merit of some fat men in black suits in a Hollywood studio who sniff cocaine from the anuses of crab infested prostitutes. Simply said, this movie never reaches for the stars and even if it at any point did, it would not make it. Surely it would not!
